Lighten our darkness
Wanted to get in with this post before anybody else because it's so bl***y obvious.
There we are in the richest country on planet cricket and it's a bit dark (but I bet we'd have played) But the floodlights are installed, so no problem.
Well there is if you're not allowed to switch them on.
Madness! and then we had the bizarre sight of the skipper and his colleagues speaking to the umpires in what seemed very polite displeasure as they took them off at the end with overs left. They were obviouly expecting to play in the twilight at the end of the day because they weren't allowed to play in the gloom in the morning!

Late last week I tried to check the laws but the page was down - probably because so many others wanted to check them!
I was less concerned about the lack of use of the floodlights (which needed to be sorted out before the game and as it wasn't there was no debate to be had), and more concerned by the reasons why bad light stopped play.
As I understand it there has to be a danger to the players. Who was in danger with Patel from one end and Pietersen from the other?
I was also keen to check how the D/L would have been affected if Prior had taken the stumping in the final over before bad light - I doubt England would have won but it certainly would have made it closer and we could have got men round the bat for the new batsman.
Having said that, I was a bit disappointed by Pietersen's tactics when it was clear England would lose unless the took wickets. Off Patel no slip even, let alone a silly point or short-leg. So even if Prior had taken the stumping we probably wouldn't have tried to attack the new batsman....
