Selections

When I saw the team lists for the first ODI between England and India I was amazed that England could find no place for Owais Shah. I felt he deserved a chance to cement his place more than one or two others named. I asked myself who I would drop in order to make way for Shah and the two names I came up with were ..........Cook and Bell.

What do I know!!

Amazing isn't it! I would definitely have dropped Bell, especially after he didn't get runs for the Lions a few days ago against India, which I assumed was the selectors giving him one last chance.

Many in England think Shah has been poorly treated, but I did read one comment calling him "Owaist of space"!

The way India have been batting so far makes the Bell and Cook innings look brilliant, but there seemed to be a bit of an inability to get into fifth gear in the last 15 overs - Australia with the same platform would have been a long way past 300 in 50. But given recent one day results, us England supporters have got to be happy with two centuries! Imagine - if Vaughan was playing too it could have been 3!
