400 is not enough...is it?
Maybe I'm missing something (I haven't seen any of the first day's play against India), but why would Andrew Strauss be saying that 350-400 puts England in the game? In India 500+ is needed in the first innings and even that doesn't put the side batting first in an unassailable position as the scores in the second innings tend to be a lot less.
Like all teams England must have discussed what they thought was a good score before they batted, but I fear they have set their sites far too low....

I'll say it before anyone else does! Perhaps 400 would have been enough....and indeed perhaps 316 was enough!
Although having said that, Harbajan proved a nightmare for the Aussies so no chickens can be counted just yet.....
I think you'll find that I said that 9/1 was generous !
My money is still on an India win from here. I think Mishra will come into the game second innings and India will have enough firepower to get home.
India are 11/2 and England 4/5 now.
Even as an ultra-pessimist, I'm starting to be hopeful. By the time we wake up tomorrow we'll know if there's been a flurry of wickets in the first session tomorrow, or if it's a case of England pushing towards victory - the latter has to be the more likely right now. Fingers crossed!
England can't afford to bottle it from here. We've seen it time and again where the touring team gets a sniff of victory, fails to grab it and then India wrestle the advantage in the series back.
I just fear that England will bat too long tomorrow if they are good enough. I hope they are bowled out leaving India about 380 for victory in plenty of time.
Well I don't know about "plenty of time" but the 380 target you set was pretty much spot on! It sounds like Sehwag was out caught behind earlier and not given so it would be a pity if he now goes on to win the game for India.
This isn't looking good!
it looked very good! lovely result
Great game. It gives the entry a nice completeness to it. The title is pretty much spot on - 400 wasn't good enough as a total to chase!
I can't even bring myself to write a post....
