Ravi Bopara

I've never seen him bat before - is he always so much of a leg side player? And if so is he the most one sided player ever to play in test cricket?

From what I've seen of him he's strong on the leg-side but he's certainly a balanced player rather than a one-trick pony.

I didn't watch any of his innings but I'm pleased he did well, all be it after being dropped. From what I read it appears that he was hooking compulsively which always concerns me...some days it comes off but when a batsman gets out to the hook you can't help feeling he's got himself out rather than making the bowler work for their wicket.

Interesting to see the views of the cricketing fraternity on Bopara's selection now that England haven't been able to bowl West Indies out cheaply. I still maintain that if our best 4 bowlers can't take wickets, adding a 5th won't help much, and that we're better off scoring stacks of runs and pressuring opposition batsman into getting out through good bowling and captaincy.....
