Dave McCabe is to modest to mention it but he did even better of my bowling last season - without all the clowning about tripping on the ropes. He just lobbed it up gently stepped back, then forward and held on. Fantastic !!
I have vague memories of reading about something similar happening in county cricket years ago. One fielder took the catch before throwing it to another as he was heading over the boundary, but the umpires ruled it as not out. I can't remember why they said not out though
In fairness I suspect Adam Voges hadn't dropped the batsman's partner when he put a catch straight down his throat the ball before!
