What marks out an international player?

Once again it appears to be the determination to make it, reading this piece about the impression that Paul Collingwood made when he played club cricket in New Zealand more than a decade ago. Apparently "he didn't have the obvious stamp of class" and "get him on the piss and you couldn't shut him up"!

Interestingly the comment on the bottom, goes to his Wikipedia entry and tells of how he won the Jack Ryder player of the league when he played club cricket in the Melbourne Premier League a couple of years later for Richmond. A good omen for the Ashes - he seems to play well in Australia if that and his last tour for England are anything to go by!
